# MariaDB

> MariaDB server, localhost only, root by socket login.

MariaDB installed and started at boot, bound to localhost. The root database account logs in through the Unix socket, so there's no default password to leak.

## Details

- Installs on: Ubuntu and Debian; AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and Fedora
- Smallest plan: Budget (1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM)
- Public ports: none (nothing listens publicly)
- Project site: https://mariadb.org/

## After the server is ready

1. Run `mariadb` as root.
2. Create a database and a user for your app.
3. Keep port 3306 closed; use an SSH tunnel for remote tools.

## Order it

Pick MariaDB in the order form, or use `"app": "mariadb"` in the API or `vps9 servers create --app mariadb`. See [all one-click apps](https://vpsnine.com/apps) and [plans](https://vpsnine.com/plans).
