# PostgreSQL

> PostgreSQL from the distribution, listening on localhost only.

PostgreSQL installed, initialised and started at boot. It listens on localhost only, so nothing is exposed until you choose to open it.

## Details

- Installs on: Ubuntu and Debian; AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and Fedora
- Smallest plan: Budget (1 vCPU, 2 GB RAM)
- Public ports: none (nothing listens publicly)
- Project site: https://www.postgresql.org/

## After the server is ready

1. Run `sudo -u postgres psql` to get a prompt.
2. Create a role and database for your app.
3. To reach it remotely, prefer an SSH tunnel over opening port 5432.

## Order it

Pick PostgreSQL in the order form, or use `"app": "postgresql"` in the API or `vps9 servers create --app postgresql`. See [all one-click apps](https://vpsnine.com/apps) and [plans](https://vpsnine.com/plans).
