A VPSNine gift card is account credit you buy for someone else. They get it by email, and when they redeem it the whole amount becomes credit on their account, which pays for servers, renewals and add-ons.

## Buy a gift card

1. In the panel, open **Billing**, then **Gift cards**, and choose **buy a gift card**.
2. Pick an amount: $10, $25, $50, $100 or $200.
3. Enter the recipient's email address. Their name, the name you sign it with and a short message are optional; they appear on the card and in the email. Your own email address is never shown to them.
4. Choose Bitcoin or PayPal and **Continue to payment**. You get an invoice for the card, paid like any other.

As soon as the payment confirms, we email the card to the recipient and tell you it went out. Account credit can't pay for a gift card, and an unpaid gift card lapses after 7 days without charging anything.

## Print it or send it again

The card has its own page under **Billing**, **Gift cards**. Once it's paid, the page shows the code and is laid out to print, so you can hand it over on paper too. **email it again** sends it to the recipient once more, up to 3 times a day.

Keep the code private until you give it: whoever enters it first gets the credit.

## Redeem a gift card

1. Sign in to VPSNine, or [create an account](https://vpsnine.com/help/create-an-account) and confirm your email address.
2. Open **Billing**, then **Gift cards**.
3. Type the code (it looks like `GIFT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX`; any case, with or without the dashes) and choose **redeem**.

The whole amount is added to your account credit at once, and it pays any open invoice straight away. A code works once. If the form says the code has a typo, one of its characters is wrong: check it against the card. With the API, send the code to `POST /api/v1/gift-cards/redeem`; in a terminal, run `vps9 billing redeem GIFT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX` with your code.

## Refunds and problems

A gift card isn't covered by the [money-back guarantee](https://vpsnine.com/help/money-back-guarantee), which is for a customer's first server order. If a gift card's payment is reversed or disputed, the card is voided, or, if it was already redeemed, its unspent credit is taken back from the account that redeemed it.

If a card never arrived, ask the recipient to check their spam folder, then send it again from its page. For anything else, [open a support ticket](https://my.vpsnine.com/support/new?category=billing) with the gift card's invoice number.
