PostgreSQL VPS

PostgreSQL from the distribution, listening on localhost only.

What you get

PostgreSQL installed, initialised and started at boot. It listens on localhost only, so nothing is exposed until you choose to open it.

What gets installed

$ apt Debian family (apt)
  • postgresql
$ dnf Red Hat family (dnf)
  • postgresql-server

After it's ready

  1. Run sudo -u postgres psql to get a prompt.
  2. Create a role and database for your app.
  3. To reach it remotely, prefer an SSH tunnel over opening port 5432.

Order it from your terminal

$ vps9
$ vps9 servers create --plan budget --image ubuntu-24.04 --app postgresql --hostname web-1 --key key_8f2c
POST /api/v1/servers
{
  "plan": "budget",
  "image": "ubuntu-24.04",
  "hostname": "web-1",
  "app": "postgresql"
}
